Smoke & Mirrors – “Thinking Outside the Box”
Every once in a while you run across a unique application that standard lighting and optics just won’t work. That’s when its time to start “thinking outside the box.”
The first step is to determine the number of cameras and light sources required to inspect the part. In many cases space constraints and the motion machine prohibit fitting multi-cameras and lights required to inspect the part.
By using mirrors beam splitters, diffused material, and LED’S and being clever you can minimize the space required and in some cases reduce the number of cameras to do the inspection.
This patent illustrates this space-saving technique.
This is an inspection module for inspecting leaded semi conductor components.
